Afrikaans ranked as sexiest language in the world

Afrikaans language ranked as sexiest language in the world.

Many may not have taken notice of the official world status of the Afrikaans accent and language.

However, years after Afrikaans woman in that old Wimpy advert. You remember the one, where the boyfriend whispers ‘foreign’ words to his girlfriend – cremachino, cafe mocha, macchiato.

And it paid off because his girlfriend responded: “Ag Henry. I love it when you talk foreign.” Who would have thought eight years later, this accent is considered the sexiest accent in the world?

Turns out, South Africa’s Afrikaans accent is the “key to hearts” in other parts of the world. An Irish-based travel website listed the top sexiest accents, and South African Afrikaans made it to the top of the list. Granted, the “survey” wasn’t a survey at all.

Lovin.Ie admits that their “ranking tool” was their “own trusted ears.” Hey, we’re not going to argue on this. A win is a win.

Afrikaans is tops, according to the Irish
Who made it to the Top Ten? Ironically, the Northern Irish accent clocked in at number three. According to the “survey,” the Top Ten are:

1.South African – Afrikaans is the key to our hearts.
2.Italian – It only Dolmio day was every day.
3.Northern Irish – Jamie Dornan. Enough said.
4.Australian – V sexy, hey?
5.French – The language of love.
6.Irish – A global favourite, to be sure to be sure.
7.Spanish – Because obviously.
8.Israeli – We can’t explain it. It’s just hot.
9.Jamaican – YAHHHH.
10.Southern American – That slow Texan drawl.

The least sexy accent in the world is apparently Welsh, because “Little Britain ruined this.” For some unknown reason, Romanian clocked in at 49th, while Russian walked away with the 39th spot, and London English at 27.

And on that note, we will leave you with Nicolette Pieters and her friend as they give a proper rendition of Calvin Harris’ This Is What You Came For, Afrikaans accent and all.
