Arnold Schwarzenegger assaulted at Sandton event center

The Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was assaulted on-camera while attending a sporting event in Sandton on Saturday.

Now in its fourth year, the action star attended the Arnold Classic Africa Multisport Festival and Trade Expo.

The Austrian-American actor was caught on camera while filming a jump rope competition when a man launched at him from behind.

After delivering a flying kick to the actor’s back, the man is immediately pinned down by a security member.

The video then shows an unharmed Arnold returning to his seat to shake hands with fans.

Arnold continued to share his experiences from the sporting event on Instagram Stories.

Arnold Classic Africa Multisport Festival has released a statement following the attack on Arnold Schwarzenegger at a sporting event in Sandton on Saturday.

In the statement the man is described as “a crazed fan” and is said to be “known to the police for orchestrating similar incidents in the past.”

According to the statement, Arnold will not be pressing charges.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has responded on Twitter to the video of a man kicking him in the back at a sporting event in Sandton.

He urged fans to share instead his posts about the athletes, rather than a video of a “guy who wants to be famous.”

Arnold

@Schwarzenegger

Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot. I only realized I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.

@Schwarzenegger

Do me a favor: instead of sharing the video of the guy who wants to be famous, watch some of our @ArnoldSports athletes like this young hero proving that fitness is for everyone who deserve to be famous. They’re on my Snapchat.
