Ex-ANC MP, Vytjie Mentor, has said that she will not be voting for the ANC on 8 May. Mentor made the comment on Facebook this week. Mentor called on other South Africans to also abandon the ruling party.

This comes in the wake of Mentor’s testimony before the Zondo Commission. Notably, several of Mentor’s claims during her testimony did not add up. Mentor had been implicated in meeting with members of

Mentor added that “ANC looters flaunt their wealth” among other criticisms, and promised that “South Africans will show the ANC flames in this election”. She added that she would soon announce which party she would be voting for instead.

Mentor’s comments follow the publication of the ANC’s election list for Parliament. The list includes several figures implicated in corruption and state capture, such as Malusi Gigaba and Nomvula Mokonyane.

The list was widely condemned by the public.

Additionally, in her Facebook posts, Mentor said that if South Africans truly love their country, they should not vote ANC, according to City Press. This makes for a complete 180-degree flip in the former ANC MP’s views.
