Juju voted Africa’s top influential opposition leader on social media

Social media users voted EFF leader Julius Malema as the most influential opposition leader in East and Southern Africa, beating the likes of Nelson Chamisa and Tundu Lisu.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema might not have won the national elections last month, but he sure is popular on social media.

On Tuesday, a social media user, who has been identified as Chibuga Magambo from Tanzania, asked tweeps who they thought was the “most influential” opposition leader in East and Southern Africa.

“Who is the most influential oppositional leader in East and Southern Africa? 1. Julius Malema(E.F.F) S.A 2. Raila Odinga(O.D.M) Kenya 3. Tundu Lisu(CHADEMA) TZ 4. Nelson Chamisa(M.D.C) Zimbabwe 5. Robert Kyagulanyi/Bob Wine Uganda,” the post read.

Thabi, who goes by the Twitter handle‏ @MwanaWachihera, commented: “@Julius_S_Malema shakes opinions of Africans as a whole. He is driven by patriotism. He teaches us to love ourselves and feel empowered as opposed to being inferior and expecting foreigners to be our Saviours. Influence wise I would pick Julius any day.”
