Commuters must exercise the greatest caution on public roads, as the rate of accidents is on a rapid increase.
A fatal crash left one person dead in between a Greyhound bus and a car on the N1 in the Western Cape on Thursday morning, Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said.
“The driver of the light motor vehicle lost control and landed on the wrong side of the road and collided head on with the oncoming bus,” said Africa.
In a similar crash, Report indicates that 49 people were injured on Monday afternoon when a bus crashed into the side of another bus while travelling on the R617 in Mpophomeni, KwaZulu-Natal.
ER24 said paramedics found both buses in the middle of the intersection with passengers in both buses having already exited the vehicles.
“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that approximately 49 patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring in a statement.
“The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported by various services to nearby hospitals for further treatment.”
