Referee Eketsang Setloboko, 2 others dead in car crash

The South Africa football community is distraught by the tragic news.

The devastating  news was confirmed by the South African Football Association (Safa) in a social media post on Saturday. They shared their condolences with the Setloboko family and revealed more details of the accident that claimed his life.

Eketsang Setloboko, who lost his life in a car crash on Friday night. The former PSL referee has officiated at the highest level of the South African game since 2015.

“Sad news: One of rising National Panel referees, Eketsang Setloboko, has passed away. He passed on last night in an accident. He was from Mount Fletcher in the Eastern Cape. Setloboko recently handled the Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando Pirates derby at FNB Stadium. May his soul rest in peace.”

two other people died in the crash near St John’s Church in Mount Fletcher. Boitumelo Setloboko and Kgotsang ‘KG’ Leeaka have been named as the other victims.
