The mass movement out of South Africa, also known as brain drain is getting more intense.
Several Economic experts have asserted that quick steps must be taken to ameliorate the long term effect of the current trend.
As economic uncertainty bites in South Africa, an emigration expert warns more South Africans are leaving the country.
Sable International’s Andrew Rissik says people of all races, especially young professionals, are looking for better opportunities abroad.
“A lot of people are leaving because of economic uncertainty and crime right now.”
Rissik says an estimated 25,000 people are emigrating annually and while some return home because of family ties, many more are opting to hedge their bets abroad.
“As long as push factors are strong, we’ll see more people leaving. Government needs to take note of this.”
