Suspect intercepted with Sophisticated weapon in Krugersdorp: (Photos)


A 30-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition during the Intergrated Rural Safety operations at Krugersdorp.

It is alleged that on 2019-03-06 at about 13:00, police were conducting Rural safety operations around Krugersdorp. The police went to Windsor road Lanwin Wentworth Park where it suspected that illegal mining is taking place.

The police spotted suspicious male hiding in a hole, police searched and underneath the blanket that man was lying on, the police found two rifles, eight (8) 308 rounds of ammunition and sixty nine (69) 9mm rounds of ammunition.

The police asked him the license to posses the firearms and am munitions. That man could not able to produce a license and he could not able to give police clear explanation for being in the possession of firearms and ammunitions, the man was then arrested and detained at the Krugersdorp police cells free from injuries.

On later stage it was found that the one firearm was reported stolen on 2018-08-27 at Klerksdorp and the other one reported on 2018-09-03 during house breaking and theft also at Klerksdorp. The investigation will continue to see whether both firearms dealing involved in other criminal activities.
