Telkom raises R15 million to fight coronavirus

Telkom has pledged R15 million to boost South Africa’s efforts in the battle against coronavirus.

The funds are meant to be directed to the country’s primary health system and will also be directed to vulnerable communities.

There were 240 known infections in the country as of 21 March with the number expected to rise.

Telkom has also announced it will not charge any data costs for students accessing learning material for universities and public schools.

A week after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a state of national disaster on the pandemic, he met with the National Command Council at the Union Buildingsto evaluate the effectiveness of the newly introduced preventative measures.
