Rennes: Erasmus is ‘learning’

Rennes coach Rolland Courbis has named a 20-man squad for the match, and the former Orlando Pirates striker has again been left out as he continues to adapt to life in France.

Erasmus scored his first goal for Rennes’ reserve team earlier this week and played for the CFA2 (French Amateur Championship) side again on Saturday, when he had a goal disallowed in a 1-0 win.

First team coach Courbis has hinted that Erasmus’ real impact for the club might only be seen next season.

“Kermit Erasmus apprenticed in CFA2. He may be able to slip a hand until the end of season in L1 but especially to prepare for next season,” Courbis is quoted as saying on Rennes’ official website.

“There are a lot of solutions to the offensive level. I have plenty of choice even though it is not easy to compare players and find complementarities.”
